Sharpest ever view of the Andromeda Galaxy
The image above, captured with the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, is an edited version of the largest and sharpest image ever taken of the Andromeda galaxy — otherwise known as M31. It is the biggest Hubble image ever released and shows over 100 million stars and thousands of star clusters embedded in a section of the galaxy’s pancake-shaped disc stretching across over 40 000 light-years. The bright central region of the galaxy appears in the bottom left corner. The top and right sides are darker and show a halo of stars hiding in gas clouds.
About me
I am an Associate Professor. I research in Algebraic Geometry. I am interested in the positivity of divisors and higher codimensional subvarieties, and in the positivity and semistability of vector bundles.
